On November 1, 2003 Meredith Haugen and her mother, Glenda Haugen purchased the Center of Fashion, an existing consignment store in Moorhead, MN. The business out grew the space and in 2013 the store moved to the South Park Center, 1617 32nd Ave S. Fargo, ND. The added space enabled the business to add many more items from more consignors. On October 1, 2021 Jennifer Fischer became the new owner of My Best Friend’s Closet.

As a woman owned business we are invested in women supporting women in many ways and on a daily basis with our interactions with our customers. We offer personal one-on-one shopping to help women find clothing that supports their particular lifestyle, needs and confidence. For a larger community impact we also support the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center. Since 2012 My Best Friend’s Closet had supported them through the Fabulous Fashion and Friends yearly event to raise funds for the Meredith Haugen Play Therapy Room at the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center. The Play Room was established in Meredith’s name after her passing in 2007. It allows children who have been abused to develop ways to express their traumatic experiences and rebuild their trust and resiliency.
